I haven’t been watching anime for a while now. But for years (2 years to be exact) of watching anime, some of the shows I’ve watched are self-defined as ‘stupid’. Some of them are enjoyable, some are not and just very droppable in just a few episodes. In this day and age, almost ALL shows are stupid, moe, not deep enough, pretentious deep, and just plain shit. In my case, I can survive with all those kind of shows.. You know me, I hate moe and stupid shit blah blah.. Just follow these steps on my very own, Guide to surviving stupid shows (oh wait, this should be my title, why didn’t I think of this at first?) OR How to enjoy stupid shows like K-ON!. (if you’re wondering why I put K-On in the title is because.. you already know why right?)
Step 1. If the anime you are going to watch is in this list, OR you think that it should be on the list, then proceed to step number 2.
Step 2. Read the following short facts and some protips. Yes. FACTS. Your argument is invalid. Read them carefully and be sure that you did all of the things that will ask you to do.
1. There are no more anime! All that’s left are ‘stupid’ shows.
Yes. You heard that right. Every season, the new shows will all be MOE. Every season there will be SHAFT, K-ON! (oh wait, that’s not a bad news), loli shows, etc. And you have nothing else to watch but all these shows so probably you will think that ‘oh lol this is the only thing i have’. So you have no choice but to watch it and try to enjoy it.. And yeah, you’ll probably think that the anime industry is DYING.
2. Stop complaining about moe and stupid shows and always saying that you ONLY watch ‘so deep’ shows like Bakemonogatari and shounen crap like Wan Piss.
No. I am not like that. I tried watching ONLY non-”supposedly”-stupid shows. But that doesn’t work anymore nowadays. You are now living in the year 2010. And 1990 is like.. 10 years ago. Refer to no. 1 and you’ll realize why.
3. Lower your expectations and accept the plot, oh wait, there IS no plot. It’s just a mindless moe show.
At first, I expected a lot from K-ON because it got lots of discussions about it. After watching first episode of it, I easily thought that it’s very droppable but I didn’t drop it. I don’t know why. Maybe because I realized that it’s a mindless moe shit. And after that, I found it funny. Same thing happened to Lucky Star.
Also, Lucky Star > K-ON!. Your argument is invalid.
4. Stop saying that it’s a waste of time, oh wait, did I mention that YOU HAVE NOTHING ELSE TO DO BUT TO WATCH ANIME? And, your time IS NOT precious.
We only see threads and people asking if this show worth watching blah blah? The question is, is your time worth THAT show… oh wait. Nevermind. It’s hard to explain. Just leave it there. Refer to no. 3, follow it then you’ll probably want more. (KANNAGI SEASON 2 WHERE?!?)
5. Lower your IQ.. the IQ you really have AND the IQ you THINK you have.Dumb it down a little.
I’ll explain the heading first, some people think that they have higher IQ. Above average. But the truth is, their IQ is BELOW average! They’re probably called weaboos or trolls.. or the ones in no. 2. So yes, most of the stupid shows are… well stupid. So you have to be stupider than yourself. If you can’t do that, bang your head on the wall. Then post pics of yourself here.. PROFIT!
6. Stop going to anime threads.
If you don’t like that show to be talked about, then get the f*ck off the internet because it WILL be discussed. Negative and positive and in between.

I think number 5 is the most important one. You should move that up to the top. Come to think of it…watching lots of stupid shows can autometically lowers the IQ. So number 5 is not hard to achieve at all

the only thing is… i can’t possibly do any of those things. i once tried to watch K-On… it made me put a knife to my wrist. then i remembered that i didn’t HAVE to watch it! I dont live in Russia! Instead I watched shows that are actually good. ANd if there are no good shows in that season? We’ll i go watch shows that are completed.

For the most part, I agree, but even then, K-ON! simply isn’t enjoyable because it is boring. I love a good mindless moe as long as A. it’s funny, B. it has interesting characters, or C. it has something besides them sitting around talking. K-ON! is none of these. It would be A had KyoAni put any effort into the writing. It would be B if the series focused on someone that wasn’t Yui or Mio. It would be C but they always cut away, and the ending “Fuwa Fuwa Time” in the first season was cut off and had QUALITY animation to boot. But no, it’s just boring.

For me, the best way to watch K-On! is to watch enough to know the characters, and then read yuri doujins and have yuri fantasies.

Smart, all. Some are hard to watch, though, and I no longer require everything to be at such a pinnacle as far as depth goes. Sometimes, I just want to put my feet up and watch Aria, Haruhi, AD, or some other show that doesn’t require much brainpower.
I’m old, though, and don’t have as much brainpower as I used to.
