Big expectations but huge disappointments

I was trolling at MAL forums (which I doesn’t normally do everyday, I don’t know why I did it at the first place) and saw a thread with a title ‘Your Big Expectations But Huge Disappointments’. It was interesting enough for me to visit the thread and actually reply to it.

As I was clicking the reply button, I already knew what series I should write. And it was Darker than Black. PERFECT! Perfect place to rage about that shit!

That series isn’t the only series that has big expectations but huge disappointments for me.. I don’t want to include them in my reply to the thread since I’m gonna be accused of trolling since it has more than 5 lines on the reply already. Oh wait..

Shakugan no Shana

Let’s assume that I haven’t watch Shakugan no Shana before (I’ll tell you why later). I’ll probably have HUGE expectations with this anime for sure because of all those comments saying Shakugan no Shana is a good anime blah blah. So I watched it, and OH WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SHIT!? AND WHO IS THIS TSUNDERE SHANA!? OH GOD NO. I hate tsundere. I hate JC Staff. I hate stupid nonesense romance shit. And I hate moe (Is Shana moe?).Shakugan no Shana – DROPPED. Big time.

So the reason why I let you assume that I havent watched Shana before is because I watched the WHOLE series a long time ago and I actually loved it. I loved it because I am a complete WEABOO that time (but Im still a weaboo now but Im trying not to be one. ;_;). I like everything moe, tsundere, and everything what others like. The series even got into my top 5 anime list! OH SHI-

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Season 2 and OVA

The 1st season was the best anime I’ve seen ever. So I expect much more in the second season. When I watched the 1st episode of the season 2, OH WOW OP IS SO AWESOME. I already loved it even though it’s my first time hearing it. (NUKEDASHITTTTEEEEEEEE~~~~~). Episode 1 is okay. Not as good as the 1st episode of the 1st season but lets stop comparing it with season 1, the best Higurashi season, okay? As I watch more episodes of it, Im starting to get asleep every episode. The story is fucking stupid. Well there are some part of the story which is interesting but still, NO. The whole season overall was SHIT. Higurashi failed me.

About the OVA, a little better than season 2. But I still cant forget episode 1 of the OVA which is so FUCKING STUPID. Comedy, fanservice, swimsuits and fillers are not good for Higurashi. So episode 2 and the following episodes was actually okay and quality is much better. But wait, the finale was crap. WORST ANIME ENDING EVER.

Mai Hime

Everyone loves this series so much that I watched it.

But wait, this series is not good for me. Horrible. I didnt enjoy it. But still watched it because I have nothing to watch at 6:30 pm on local television.

I loved pretty much all of the shows you listed. lol.

The show for me that didn’t meet my expectations has to be .hack//SIGN. I had heard that it was an awesome show, but I ended up hating it more than any show I’ve every seen (except maybe Fruits Basket). Another show that might fit the bill would have to be Gunslinger Girl, which had a cool premise (child assassins? r u serious that’s sick!) but was actually kind of boring and dumb.

Actually, D. Gray Man was the biggest disappointment. That show was horrible.

I agree that Shakuga no Shana was really a disappointment although there seemed a lot of people liking it…
