Umineko no Naku Koro ni
It wasnt that bad. But this is not better than Higurashi no Naku Koro ni. Episode 1 of Higurashi really left a very good impression on me. Umineko is okay too but not as good as Higurashi. OP song was the best. But once again, not as good as the OP of Higurashi. The story is I think, cliche and very one-sided. A wealthy family on a trip with some mysterious cases going on. Well I think the following episodes will make it un-cliched. I hope. The characters are amazing too. Especially Maria. Uuu~ The ED song was good too by the way.
Bakemonogatari
Literally, jaw-dropped on the first 2-minute of the show. I drooled at the quality. This is the 2nd best anime quality I’ve seen so far. So shiny I should say. The random pictures appearing on the anime left a good impression on me. It’s very very good. No dialogue on the first 2 minutes. Very nice. The story I think is very common. A boy who just stumbled upon on a mysterious girl, trying to find out what and who she is. You already know what I mean. But still, I wanna watch it. I hope the story is very different than what I expected. Also, office suplies as weapons? 5 kg-weighted girl? Oh God this is sweet.
This summer season is the best season so far. Too bad that Im too busy at school. But Ill try to keep up with this season. Also, planning to watch Canaan, TM 8.0, GA Art Class and Needless. Is my plan-to-watch list okay?

I really didn’t like the forced fan-service of Umineko (as in, the part where that Apollo Justice guy ogles over his cousin’s breast and so on) (yea, this is anime, but still!). I’ve never seen Higurashi, so maybe this is actually how it’s supposed to be (?), but regardless, it’s just a cheap trick to reel in viewers. I’m assuming the show will get more serious later on, so I wouldn’t want to see something like this:
*cousin dies*
*poke poke*”
“DOOD!!! SOMEBODY KILLED MY COUSIN!!!… *undresses her* AWWW CHEAAA!!!
Hmm, Bakemonogatari is shinny you say? :3 :4 :5
I forgot to mention that also. The forced fanservice. I hated it. Comparing again on Higurashi, Higurashi never did that right? Oh God, dont disappoint me Umineko.
Why yes. Bakemonogatari is shiny like hell.

CANAAN FUCKING SUCKS>
Im about to watch Canaan. So shut your mouth.
go enjoy the bandwagon dickwad
I’ll admit, Umineko’s characters are over-cliched and annoying to the point where I just want to drive pencils through their eye sockets (Maria’s UUUU~’s; nuff said), but seriously: how many other anime can you find about rich families joining together on an island, let alone finding murder the night they arrive? Not exactly cliche in my eyes.
However, I do agree on the OP and ED: they were FRIGGIN AWESOME.
In terms of Higurashi, I’d say the first two episodes of this and the first two episodes of Higurashi are on par with each other; Higurashi spent about the same amount of time introducing everybody (the first episode), and immediately jumped into the plot and chaos within the second episode. While Umineko got the characters introduced and the murders set up, it’s definitely not as rushed and headlong as Higurashi.
Ah well, I love ‘em both anyway.
I haven’t seen Bakemonogatari yet, but I’ve heard both good and bad about the first two episodes of that. Will check it out~
I wrote too much again. -sigh-
Yeah. But Higurashi spent the first episode’s time with so much awesomeness and possibly cliffhangers?. Unlike Umineko, I got bored on the first episode. Probably the latter episodes will be much better. Some mindfucks will do please.
Umineko has gore. Bakemonogatari has a hot girl who is walking stationery store. These are the only reasons I need to watch the shows.
Canaan is unreal, in my opinion. I love it.
I still have to watch Bakemonogatari, which looks awesome (Shaft + Akiyuki Shinbo). And yea, there’s no way Umineko will be as good as Higurashi (that’s hard to accomplish). That being said, I’ve barely watched any anime at all in the past week and a half, because I’m way too busy.
Same here. Im VERY busy. But I have lots of good animes to watch. Dammit.
i gotta gree with glothelegend…cannan is just awesomesauce…can’t find something better this year..maybe Basquash..yeah, definitely Basquash *drool*
Umineko’s good so far. I actually can’t stand Maria.
Uuuuuu~~~~
So annoying.
Bakemonogatari’s awesome.
Get out. I love Maria and her UUU’s.
Please, when she got slap in the face for saying UUUU so much, that was just flat out hilarious!
IMO Higurashi and Umineko are entirely incomparable in terms of story, but that’ll won’t become pretty clear until the second arc comes (and a ton of stuff comes flying out of left field).
But yes the first episode was pretty bad, and not just in terms of adaptation – I’m glad episode 2 stepped it up a bit.
Heh you should NOT be comparing Umineko and Higurashi. After the 1st arc, which in my opinion, is equal to Higurashi’s first arc, Umineko does a 180 degree turn into comedy and action etc. Things happen in a way that you can NOT take it seriously, yet there are times when the drama is great. It’s a very wierd combo that can put off a lot of viewers who are hooked in by the first ep. Basically, don’t expect anything like Higurashi (After the 1st arc) or you’ll be very disappointed.
>No dialogue on the first 2 minutes
The first 2 minutes (or less) did not have any dialogue because that is the OP.
