Its 2009. One of my New Year’s resolution in the blogosphere is ‘be decent in commenting on blogs.’ Cause yeah, I was a retard on commenting lately on some, mostly all blog posts.
These are some do’s and dont’s in commenting on blog posts, only based on my observations and research:
- Do post ontopic comments. Well duuh. Thats why you comment to a post, so you can express your thoughts on the post and say something about it (And another reason is for your blog to be seen). But we cant help but post an offtopic comment right? Yes. Can you post an offtopic comment? Well I guess yes. If you add a little amount of an ontopic comment, then that will be just fine. But make sure your ‘ontopic’ comment is not any gibberish talk like for example the post is about a certain anime, your comment is like this: “Wow I love that anime!” Then after that you put your nonesense offtopic comment. So do comment like this: Senseful ontopic comment + Offtopic comment = Win.
- Do not crack up. The blog post is about anything that will make you angry. For example, the post is about anime which is being hated by the author. The next thing you do is comment like: “You motherfucker, go to hell! (Exclamation point 1000x) That anime doesnt suck! You fuckin son of a bitch get a life, go to hell and buy me a dog!!!” P.S. All words are in capital letters. Your comment failed. It would be deleted in a minute or so. Or if the author wants to fight you, then what the heck. I remember that comment which I totally cracked up because of the post. Hey! At least I tried not to crack up! A way to not crack up when your angry on a post is: Use sarcasm or any other stuffs. That always work.
- Do post understandable comments. What I mean is something that the author or ‘common’ people can read. In other words, just post engrish characters. That will work. Not like адо полностью освободить это помещение, вынести оттуда все, что возможно. Ко всем стенам должен быть свободный подход, это очень упрощает раб тельный мусор, – надо создать подходящие условия, тогда работа пойдет гор some crazy characters that can have no meaning at all. Talk about random.
- Do not just read the title before comment-ing. I used to do reading just the title then commenting. *rolls eyes* Yeah.. so umm.. Yes, you shouldnt do the same like what I used to do. At least read the post. Try to understand the post. Cause if you didnt, then you will end up a comment like: “I lol’d at the title” , “*anything that is irrelevant to the post but relevant to the title*. Another example, you saw a title with any anime title in it, then you didnt read the post, your comment will look like this. Totally irrelevant right?
- Do not post unnecessary comments. What is unneccessary? Questions like: “Where did you download that anime!?”, “Can we link exchange?”, “Where did you get that picture?”. It happens a lot. So dont do it, mkay? You might be lucky if the author answered your question. Clapclapclap.
- Do read comments that are already posted in a post where you are about to comment. You dont want to have the same comment as the last commentor commented, do you? Well yes I dont want that. The next thing you know someone will comment: “Did you just stole my comment? Hmmm. Cant think of a comment eh?” Which was untrue. You didnt stole his/her comment, its just a co-incidence. Then the issue will end up to court. Period. DUN DUN DUN DUN. Another scenario is this: A birthday/new year/christmas/any celebration post. Lets pick a New Year post. Of course the comments will have ‘Happy New Year!’ all the way. Which is totally annoying right? But thats okay if the post havent much any infos on it. Like my New Year post which just greeted the readers a happy new year. Unlike those long New Year post which just have a constant comment of Happy New Year all the way. (That includes me. :[) The author spent a looooong time on making that post and you just commented 3 words!? Oh wow.

I lol’d at the title!
You mot*.*, go to he*.*! That anime doesnt suck! You fu*.* son of a beach get a life, go to he*.* and buy me a hotdog!!!
This comment is an epic fail!!!!…by the way, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!…A little bit belated…I was sick cause of the flu…:(…

just one thing. please know how “crack up” is used in the world of idioms before using it as a term that is used to express anger.
-there. ontopic, understandable, read through the post, necessary, and i read the comment before me.
Rule #1 Always ask where the F****** subs.
Rule #2 Never say anything longer than one line.
It seems you don’t like Cyrillics lol
It’s nice that you took the time to reflect on the issue of comment quality.
I’m pretty sure that language is russian. Please, do your research.
Now I know what I shouldn’t do. I admit, I did commented after just reading the title…
You know, what you have copied in russian from your guestbook is just spam. These sentences make minor sense.
[...] Ishimaru just enlightened all of us how we should comment. I’m thankful. Hope, now there will be more good comments for us, bloggers. It would be [...]
That seems to be the standard comment etiquette… still if an off topic comment is a no no, then what about referring to relevant topics that can further along the blog conversation? I recall that I made a comment in a blog, where I liken the topic for another set of things I am looking forward to… hint… Hinano’s Winter drama post…
I think cracking up will make the post more interesting cause other readers and bloggers can join in the convo. lol
If more ppl think like u, then we will be in a better world.
I didn’t think people would seriously need a guide to understand how to interact with others.
People who do that always makes me facepalm. Only time this ever really happens to my small blog is with spam bots, those bloody things. A little .htaccess IP ban and they never came back.
> Do post ontopic comments.
First! Um… actually, ninth!
> Do not crack up.
But sometimes, the author is intentionally soliciting heated responses, like in Owen’s post on “Slow Blogging.”
> Do post understandable comments.
Did you just curse at me in Russian there?
> Do read comments that are already posted in a post where you are about to comment.
Try doing that on Crusader’s posts at THAT. Most comments there feature word-counts that rival most posts on the internet.
@tooonleap: Get well soon! And thanks for the offtopic cookie.
@biankita: Crack up: 1. To break or snap apart.
2. To make a sharp snapping sound.
3. To break without complete separation of parts; fissure: The mirror cracked.
4. To change sharply in pitch or timbre, as from hoarseness or emotion. Used of the voice.
5. To break down; fail: The defendant’s composure finally began to crack.
6. To have a mental or physical breakdown: cracked under the pressure.
7. To move or go rapidly: was cracking along at 70 miles an hour.
8. Chemistry To break into simpler molecules by means of heat.
@Kitsune: Fcuking comment where? XD Cyrillics you say?
@xephyre: I hate researching. And thats my point, just post comment that are understandable for pete’s sake. But in this case, what the heck, its just a spam.
@Gargron: Yeah. I just copied since I never had a not spam comment which has non-understandable words in it.
@miz: Its a standard ettiquette but still not been followed by some bloggers or readers. ;_;
@optic: I think all the people think like this. Though they still have something that is un-agreeable on my thought.
@Aizen: They seriously need yo understand. They understand but they dont act like they understand.
@bakaneko:
> Do post ontopic comments.

WHAT?
> Do not crack up.
>> But sometimes, the author is intentionally soliciting heated responses, like in Owen’s post on “Slow Blogging.”
Thats my point. If you really is heated on the topic, then dont crack up. Just like the linked post on omisyth. Haha. I cracked up there.
> Do post understandable comments.
>>Did you just curse at me in Russian there?
No. Cause not all people understand russian. Example, me.
> Do read comments that are already posted in a post where you are about to comment.

Mkay then.
Hmmm…you forgot commenting with excessively long string of characetsr like sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
Not sure if people are aware, but screws up comment fields if not coded properly.
You see what I mean? The “o” went out of bounds.
Apologies for the double post…was making a point.
Another effort to make blog comments better.
I don’t like sarcasm, please don’t use it.
@7: Hmm..Yeah. I see comments like that before too. But I think its not used anymore. So. HA!
@phossil: What?
@jpzero: Mkay. I wont use it to you. XD
It’s amusing to see the spam comment by Thaklymah with pr0n linkage somehow managed to slip by unnoticed. But yeah, your points should be common sense. Too bad common sense seems to be lacking on the interweb.
^ Indeed.
that’s good.
on topic:
This is exactly what goes through my head when I go to comment on anything ever. I don’t like sounding like an idiot (or maybe it’s too late! ha.)
response to another comment!:
Cyrillics are the characters used for writing Russian. Doy.
I see.
