5cm/s is a must-watch, no doubt about it. Too bad the R1 version is out of stock in most places (I have a copy of the Japanese limited-edition DVD, which of course has no subtitles orz).
And I know lots of people think Lel.Lamp. is awesome – whether they’re right or wrong I can’t say, since I haven’t seen Code Geass – but the fact that I can see him EVERYWHERE is getting more than a little annoying. I usually check out the character rankings in the latest issue of Animage every time I go to the Japan Foundation Library in Makati, and what do I always find? Good ol’ L.L. at Number 1, month after month after month after month. Time for someone to knock that smug &@$!@*% down a notch.

My apologies for the really late response – but here goes.
The Japan Foundation (http://www.jfmo.org.ph/) runs a small but well-stocked library on the ground floor of the Pacific Star Building, Buendia corner Makati Avenue. It’s closer to the building’s back entrance than the front entrance. In addition to a very impressive collection of books (including lots of raw manga), videos, CDs (including J-Pop hits) and other materials, they’ve got a selection of current magazines shipped in straight from Japan – one of which is Animage. You don’t have to be a member to visit or to read anything inside the library; just show up, leave an ID at the counter and browse the shelves to your heart’s content. (I signed up for a library card – just P700 a year – and that allows me to borrow books, but not the magazines; those are for room use only.)
Here’s an info page describing the rules and whatnot of the library: http://www.jfmo.org.ph/library.htm –> note that they’re closed on weekends/Philippine holidays/Japanese holidays and their operating hours are fairly short, just 10AM-6PM.
