There are two kinds of escape. One with a direction and one without. The former is called floating and the latter is called flight. You’re the one who decides which one your over overlooking view is.
Quick Review:
I would say that so far, this is the greatest anime movie I have saw EVAR! This anime, Kara no Kyoukai 1 has overshadowed and conquered my now ex-favourite anime movies like Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle and other Miyazaki films that are too many to mention. Since its been N months that I haven’t watched an action-supernatural anime, I decided to watch this. And there is a very little possibility that I will like this kind of genre (Like the last action-supernatural anime I watched, Ergo Proxy which really sucked). Kara no Kyoukai has ‘that’ genre. But I really liked it in some way. With all that cool fighting scenes, ghosts, blood, what more could you ask for!? Going back to the story, the story is very very deep and brooding and very very serious (like duuh). It requires logic to understand this anime. I totally recommend this to otakus that has a lot of interest in action anime (Especially us boys). I certainly assure you that you will like this. Trust me.
The Protagonist:

Shiki Ryogi
The story revolves around this girl, a very brave and powerful girl (which kind of tomboyish XD). She has a rare power that I wouldnt tell you so that you will watch it.
She recently recovered from a two-year coma caused by a traffic accident. Prior to the traffic accident, she originally had two personalities, a male personality named Shiki (織, Shiki), and the original female personality Shiki (式, Shiki). Children born into the Ryougi family are generally male and are raised with two personalities, so the male personality is customarily called the “yang” personality, while the female is called the “yin” personality. It is easy to tell which Shiki is speaking at a given time because they both have a distinct style of speaking, most notably that the female Shiki refers to herself with the pronoun watashi (私, watashi), while male Shiki refers to himself as ore (オレ, ore). After waking from her coma, Shiki discovers that she can no longer feel the male Shiki’s presence and assumes that he died because of the accident. She also feels a detachment from her memories before the accident, and while she knows she is Shiki, she does not feel that she is. In the hopes of regaining herself and the “dead” Shiki, she puts on a cold façade that somewhat resembles the male Shiki’s and tries to act as the female Shiki did. Touko understands the sense of detachment Shiki feels, but considers the current Shiki a third, new personality.

2nd movie is more plot heavy so if you’re looking for more action, you might be turned away.
Shiki is moe <3
^ I was about to watch the 2nd movie, but I saw in crunchyroll that there aint no vids of Kara no Kyoukai in there anymore. Dammit.
Is she in SaiMoe? XD
Lolyeah. Moe Shiku is moe moe!

Shiki is NOT moe, but she does kick all sorts of ass and is awesome.
^ Whatever you say XD
Yeah. I like her when she kicks ghosts butts! KICK ASS!
I enjoyed it, especially the scenes with the splattered blood and dead people, but plot-wise, I didn’t really pay much attention, and now I can’t even remember why I like it. So it’s good, but in my book, forgettable
So I really recommend you to understand the story. In that way, you’ll understand the anime. ^^
While Shiki isn’t going to win any Moe awards, she’s still superior as a female character in her own ways. Also, I’m glad the producers decided to make this a movie instead of say, a 26 episode series, even if we have to wait forever for the other 4 movies.
I agree that Kara no Kyoukai 1 is great as I would rate it above average. The graphics just blew me away and I went “wow” all the way and I particularly like the action scenes in the later part of the OVA. As everything is new, episode 1 kept me in suspense with ample gore, mysteries and action. The ending for episode 1 was also meaning and rather touchy too.
However, I cannot say so for the next few OVAs because I feel that they are being over-rated. I feel that the graphic and effects are great but that’s about it. >.>”
Sorry for the typo error and double post, its “meaningful” instead of “meaning”.
@hynavian: Really? You saying that the next movies ar over-rated makes me wanna dont watch it.
