Picture related to the post. Why? Guess why. Keep guessing!
I cant think of a post again! And so I read again my tips when you cant think of a blog post.
Tip no. 2: Lurk for some new posts on the anime blogosphere.
And so I lurked..
I saw some posts with anime reviews. And what? This guy (Yeah. Im pretty sure the blogger was a guy) reviews an anime which he liked. Genre? Drama/Romance. What so interesting about it? Nothing much. I just think the genre drama-romance for an anime to be watched (and liked) by a guy.. Is gay.
One more. Since I was bored, searched for a random anime-related site with a chatbox. I saw many otakus. Yes. Many. And there is this guy.. Which was interesting.
Guy: Anybody here watches.. (I dont know the title. I forgot.)?
Me: What? Never heard of that.
Some random otaku girl: OOH me. I love that anime. One of the greatest yaoi!
Me: What the FFFF? Yaoi?
Guy: Yeah. Yaoi. The one with..
Me: I know.
Guy: And I really like those kind of animes.
Me: Oh wait. Youre a guy right?
Guy: Yeah?
Me: I see.. (Suspicious eyes that I cant figure out to do in the chatbox)
Translation on my last sentence: “OOOH youre gay. HAHA” /runs away.
What about girls who likes yuri? You know.. yuri. HAHA I think you know that already. I came by on a forum. (In Crunchyroll, which I cant open right now! HNNNNGH!) And theres this thread, “Girls who like yuri;Boys who like yaoi” My reply: GAY!
Moving on with today’s post. Genres for different genders. Genre which is likely to be liked with a certain boy or a girl. The ‘common’ boys and girls. Not those weird ones mentioned above.
Guys dig in anime genres like:
- Action: Action is highly needed. No action, boring episode. Boring episode, dropped anime. Dropped anime, well I dont know.. (Chaos;Head, Claymore, .hack series)
- Mecha: Mechas add the anime more action. So mechas are needed. (Blassreiter, Code Geass, TTGL, Mobile Suit Gundam)
- Harem: MMMMM Harem. You know harem.. No need to explain. (Da Capo, Clannad, Nagasarete Airantou)
- Ecchi: More ecchi, more fun. (Kanokon, Rosario Vampire, Goshushou-sama Ninomiya-kun)
- Supernatural: Supernatural animes are animes which have scenes which cant see everyday in reality. Guys like something to escape reality. Cause reality is boring. (D. Gray Man, Haruhi no Yutsuu, Darker than Black)
- Game: Guys love video games. And when theyre favorite video game is adapted to an anime? BOOM. CHAOS! (Devil May Cry, .Hack, Chaos;Head)
- Comedy: Some laughs doesnt hurt right? (Pani Poni Dash, Hyakko, Lucky Star)
- Shoujo-ai: …
Girls dig in anime genres like:
- Romance: You know them girls. More romance is better. WTF? (Itazura na Kiss, Lovely Complex, Akane-iru ni Somaka)
- Drama:You know them dramatic girls. (Boku wa Imouto ni Koi wo Suru, Da Capo, Clannad)
- Slice of Life: Something that they can relate to. What? (Lucky Star, Minami Ke, Aria)
- School: I think they love school itself. (School Rumble, Haruhi no Yutsuu, Hyakko)
- Shounen-ai: DUUH? (Junjou Romantica, Gravitation)

>I just think the genre drama-romance for an anime to be watched (and liked) by a guy.. Is gay.
I feel sorry for you. You’re missing out on half of your life.
No offense but, I somewhat disagree with this post. Hey, I love comedy and I love yuri too as much as I love yaoi… because I think it’s really cute and funny. Does that make me a lesbian already? NO. I have much more to say but I wanna be nice this Christmas

Kairu, you’ve demonstrated a higher level of naivete than I could’ve ever expected of you and this is one of the most retarded and close-minded posts you’ve ever done.
For one, your classifications are rather odd, and close-minded.
HSnY is far from just being supernatural, in fact, it incorporates few supernatural elements as an anime. It encompasses Slice-Of-Life, Sci-Fi, mystery and more.
Clannad also doesn’t qualify as a harem anymore since the advent of the one-true-pairing (that being Nagisa X Tomoya) and a true harem would be more towards Hayate no Gotoku, where the OTP is still rather vague.
Tastes are varied and more myriad than you could possibly imagine. I recommend you look at trends in anime-watching before making such sweeping statements.
FYI there are quite a few girls who do think Yuri is a pretty cool story. Case-in-point; Shojo sect was an awesome Yuri series. Get around to knowing that
For your reaction for that guy who like yaoi – you are so freakin’ immature – and this coming from someone claims bishonens as one of the reasons for liking anime. Hah!
This is the most ridiculous generalization of anime genres I have ever read. From what I read, practically everyone in the anime blogosphere is weird and you’re common. That’s just sad. You’re COMMON.
Tell me: what method did you use to come up with this? Oh yeah… you placed it under the category “Random Shit”
That is so untrue. Different favors for different people regardless of gender. Only the narrow minded consider them weird when they are just statistically less likely with one’s limited sample. Most anime falls into more than one genre and the viewing demographics can be very different.
Consider modern gundam shows which is part mecha, part action, part silly political intrigue, part bishi sexual tension and part gundam. (gundam is a genre since no otaku can live without gundam knowledge no matter the content..or do they?)
Dr.GrayMan (or is that Gayman?) has a larger female following due to large bishi cast and lack of females, except for one, which makes as bad as purely shoujo targeted shows.
Ichigo mashimaro, Minami Ke, Azumanga, Lucky Star, Aria, and such are originally serialized in seinen (young man) magazines and much of the “slice of life” genre is consumed by (weird, japanese) guys. Yes, young japanese man likes to read about girls going about their lives. (ah, so all the mystery as to why they have so much service is revealed!)
Similarily, “romances” and “Drama” like Air, Da Capo, Kanon, Clannad came from male oriented erogames and definitely have a male audience first.
————
If you ask me the dividing line between gender-targeted shows, genre wouldn’t be that important (except for yaoi and biased harem(note reverse harem is common in shoujo)) but the perspective on the story and things like service. Just look all the mecha spin off manga in the following magazine… http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monthly_Asuka
Have to agree with everyone’s disagreement. All the female otaku I know like what you defined as for guys just as much as if not more than actual males. The opposite is also true regarding girls’ shows. I’m at a loss for words and so I’ll just end here and let everyone else throw the insults.
I like yuri more than yaoi, so I am gay nao?
And comedy shouldn’t belong to boys!!!
But yeah, that aside…If you try to separate everything by gender, you’re missing out on a lot. This might work for other people, but anime fans tend to generally ignore what gender everything is meant for. We don’t care.
Some of your classification is weird too. Slice of Life and school anime are filled with moe, shouldn’t that mean they’re geared at guys? Because most of their fans are guys.
I knew there will be comments like these. I know Im weird, am I not? Im not the one you would call a ‘common’ otaku. I have different point of view. Yes. Stay away from me.

If you shove away the opinions of the ‘normal’ otaku people, then you’ll just end up being more and more weird and retarded. Don’t you even want to find out what you’re missing out on, or the point the commenters here are trying to say? But hey, if that’s how you want to be different and cool, then I guess we can’t do anything about that anymore.
I was homosexual. His name was Alcibiades. His delicious penis was delicious.
Usagijen: Im just a retard. >_> I should have kept it to myself. /facepalm
Honey I did the review on Shoujo Sect (which was a yuri-hentai anime) and I dig yuri more than yaoi. From the post, it seems like you’re homophobic or have something against Gays, which I think wasn’t a nice act on your part at all.
Perhaps, opening your mind to things might help or substantial your points with facts/figures if you’re going into editorials. (:
^ HNNNGGHH I still cant explain it clearly. But whatever, this post s thrashed.
